GETXOPHOTO is a festival dedicated to image that takes place in Getxo (Basque Country) during September for the last 12 years. It brings different proposals from photographers and visual storytellers from all over the world to the city, setting a contemporary conversation about the theme proposed each year.
This year edition reflects on the meaning of conflict. More specifically it focuses its aftermath, the consequences of conflict and the reconstruction of post-conflict dialogues. This includes how reframing a broken discourse often gives way to new possibilities, situations, ideas and relationships.
One of its main identity signs of GETXOPHOTO festival is its strong defense of the public space. Most of the works are mainly shown in the streets and public places, so we found loads of different applications of the visual identity. That´s why creating a flexible, dynamic and easy to recognize identity was a fundamental fact in the design process.
GETXOPHOTO's visual identity is based on the use of cyan, black & white color. For this edition, we wanted to emphasize the meaning of conflict giving more presence to black color. Also we turned the angle of the logotype and put it on the bottom of the visual communications without margins, so it expresses more tension and imbalance.
